This policy applies only to the ScriptureGuessr iOS app.

This Privacy Policy explains how Andrew Bowlus ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the ScriptureGuessr iOS app (the "App").

1. Information We Collect

A. Account and Sign-In Information

  • We use Clerk to authenticate users.
  • We receive an account identifier and any information you choose to share (name, email, profile image).
  • If you use Sign in with Apple, Apple provides a unique identifier and, depending on your settings, your name and email address (or an Apple relay address if you use Hide My Email).

B. Gameplay and App Data

  • Scores, stats, streaks, preferences, and settings.
  • Multiplayer data such as your display name, room participation, and game results visible to other participants.

C. Log and Device Information

  • IP address and basic device/app information (device type, OS version, app version, timestamps).
  • Used for security, fraud prevention, rate limiting, and service reliability.

We do not use third-party analytics or crash reporting tools in the iOS app.

2. How We Use Information

  • Provide and operate the App and its features.
  • Authenticate users and manage accounts.
  • Enable multiplayer gameplay and leaderboards.
  • Save and sync progress and preferences.
  • Detect, prevent, and address security or technical issues.
  • Comply with legal obligations.

3. How We Share Information

We do not sell personal information.

  • Service providers such as Clerk (authentication) and Vercel (hosting and logs).
  • Real-time infrastructure providers that support multiplayer features.
  • Other players in the same multiplayer room (display name and game results).
  • Legal or regulatory authorities if required by law.

4. Data Retention

  • Account data is retained while your account is active.
  • Log data (including IP addresses) is retained as needed for security and operations, consistent with our providers' policies.
  • You can request deletion of your account data by contacting us.

5. Your Choices and Rights

  • You can request access, correction, or deletion of your account data by contacting us.
  • You can revoke Sign in with Apple at any time in your Apple ID settings.
  • Depending on your location, you may have additional privacy rights under local law.

6. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

7. International Transfers

If you access the App from outside the United States, your information may be processed in the United States or other jurisdictions with different data protection laws.

8. Security

We use reasonable safeguards to protect information, but no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will update the effective date when changes are made.
